SOS To All Parkside Residents
Without sufficient funding, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA, or Metro) will have to cut service drastically for the second half of the agency's fiscal year 2022, i.e., for the first half of calendar 2022 (January through June). Among the cuts being proposed is the closure of up to 22 stations, and Grosvenor-Strathmore is on that list.
If you would be adversely affected by the closure of Grosvenor-Strathmore in January 2022, PLEASE send a message to Metro's board -- boardofdirectors@wmata.com -- BEFORE close of business on Tuesday, March 16. Tell the board members specifically what impact the closure would have on you, with the emphasis on facts. A short, concise message is more effective than a long, overly wordy one.
Montgomery County is one of the jurisdictions that contributes to Metro funding, so it is equally important to send a message to the county council -- county.council@montgomerycountymd.gov -- telling members why, for you specifically, full funding of Metro is critically important.
Let's inundate the WMATA board and the County Council with messages from Parkside, showing these groups and not just telling them that we really, really need the Grosvenor-Strathmore station.
